Ramsdell Hall Railings - project completed!

Ramsdell Hall railings

On the night following the AGM (10th December 2010), Stuart & I gave a talk to IWA Stoke Branch, at the Stoke on Trent Boat Club, Endon, on our work at Bosley Lock 4 Sidepond and Ramsdell Hall Railings. It seems to have gone well, as a couple were inspired to walk along by the railings on Sunday.

Unfortunately they discovered a bottom rail near to the quarter milestone had been pushed out since Mr Worth's repairs in November and been thrown into a nearby bush. This info was passed on to me yesterday by Alison Smedley.

Stuart & I visited the site this morning (14th December 2010) and rescued the rail, and it is now with me awaiting fitting at a later date. While we were there, we fitted the two plaques, one at the north end of the moorings by the gate to the Little Moreton Hall footpath and the other opposite the hall and close to the quarter milestone. Let's hope these plaques with the list of sponsors of the project will deter future vandalism. It was numbing work adjusting the nuts & bolts with bare hands! Apart from the repair and tidying up of paintwork blemishes, that's the project completed!
