Introduction:

This pub has been transformed since the bad old days! In the Good Beer Guide, 2009. Has had a lot of improvements made since then. A good pub in an odd corner, popular with those who know where it is - right next to the canal; over the road from the railway station!

Brews:

Seven or eight cask ales available including Greene King IPA, Black Sheep, Joules and Bass, plus local micro-brewed alses such as Front Row, Cottage and Tatton. Traditional cider is also served.

Food:

Good. Breakfast for B&B guests.

Other facilities:

Snooker table, children's play area in the garden, car park. Accommodation available in the cottage next door.

Finding it:

canal map | road map

By canal: access via steps up from the towpath 20m south of railway bridge. It's OK to moor along this length.
By road: opposite Congleton railway station (they are divided by the high level road bridge).
