New Year walk - A Missing Bridge and a Long Lane
10.00am Tuesday 1st January 2013 OS.
118, SJ928773
The traditional New Year's Day amble
will take place around Bollington, Adlington and Pott Shrigley.
Our route will include the Macclesfield Canal towpath plus footpaths
and lanes around the area. A few disused coal pits are guaranteed
to make an appearance!
We will meet at 10.00am at Clough Bank car park for the Middlewood
Way in Bollington. The walk will last about 2½ hours, returning
to Clough Bank. Everyone welcome!
Travel: Grimshaw Lane is on the right opposite the Bay Leaf Indian
restaurant (previously the Waggon & Horses) as you proceed into
Bollington from Macclesfield along Bollington Road and Henshall
Road (this is the main road into the town of Bollington). 200m
up Grimshaw Lane, take the first right turn into Clough Bank and
immediately right into the car park. It's about 100m from
Adelphi mill.
As always, stout shoes or
boots and waterproofs are advised.
No need to let anyone know just turn
up, but remember, if you are late we will have already left.
