11 March Peter Brown The Shroppie
Peter is an award winning author for his book on the Shropshire Union Canal. He will give an illustrated tour of the Main Line and its Middlewich and Newport Branches, explaining its complex history.
15 April Alastair Lobban Toddbrook
Alistair is the principle Principal Engineer on the works to reinstate the Reservoir. The Canal & River Trust are developing a design to construct a new spillway system at Toddbrook Reservoir to ensure that the Dam meets the highest standards as required by the Reservoirs Act and that our water supply for the Peak Forest and Macclesfield Canals is secured for future generations. This presentation will discuss the engineering challenges and opportunities involved in delivering a complex large scale civil engineering project within the centre of an historic town and the work done to date by the Trust.
