AGM at Townley Hall , the AGM will be followed by some light refreshments andf then Members Presentations |
For 2025 we are trialling holding the January, February and March talks using Zoom. One reason for this is to prevent speakers and audiences having to travel in the difficult winter months. Another reason is that it allows us to get speakers who are not in easy travelling distance of Macclesfield.

17th January 2025 | Malcolm Bridge | Ampere in Ireland Part1- Zoom Talk -Adventures of a couple with an electric boat on Irish waters for a year. This part describes the carriage to Ireland, the crainng in at Sallins, cruising through Dublin to the then newly opened Royal Canal, then along that to the Shannon and over the Shannon-Erne Waterway to Enniskillen |
21st February 2025 | Malcolm Bridge | Ampere in Ireland Part 2- Zoom Talk- This part covers the Lower Lough Erne, the return over yhe Shannon-Erne and then almost the complete length of the Shannon before returning to Sallinsalong the Grand Canal and a winter spent aboard |
21st March 2025 | Ian Mc Carthy | Canals revisited- Zoom Talk- Photos revisiting the 1960's and 70's on canals including work parties, campaigns and rallies |

David Kitching | A look at the Peak Forest Canal in old photos- Talk at Townley Hall- Photographic record of the Peak Forest Canal, its structures and trade during the period 1900 to the 1950's when it carried limestone, coal and textiles |
16th May 2025 | David Broome | Bringing Boats back to Burslem- Talk at Townley Hall- A history of the Burslem Branch Canal and it's demise in 1961 and then an outline of the ambitions for the future |
