Bridge 26A, Clarence Mill footbridge - week 9

 Week 9

Facing the towpath sideJuly 17 - Roy and Dave are well on with the facing stone on the towpath side. Their biggest problem now is the heavy rain. Work stopped for the week shortly after this picture was taken.

Drainage behind the rampJuly 17 - At the back of the towpath side ramp they have installed a drainage system to prevent water from building up against the walls. This includes a water proof membrane against the walls with a 10cm perforated drain pipe at the foot of the wall overlaid with a generous covering of limestone chippings. The soil will be back filled into the channel up to the top of the wall along this side and the far end. Walking on the finished ramp will feel like walking at ground level.

The intermediate cross walls have been built in this section.

Steps constructed13 July - The Clarence Road side is almost complete. The facing stone is ready to receive the coping stones. The ramp decking is all in place together with the steps on the right. There is a last bit of facing stone required up the side of the ramp.
